How this tool works
The Aquachloro calculator is intended as a general estimation tool to assist with pool and spa chlorine treatment calculations. It uses the principle of water treatment through chlorination.
Note
- The required concentration of chlorine in raw water: This depends on your chlorine demand. Therefore, while adding chlorine to your raw water using this app, ensure that you remember to retain residual chlorine at accepted level. However, most standard organizations place a concentration of 1ppm to 5ppm to be enough for water treatment. The value can even be less if your water is from a good source like borehole. The best way to know if your water is well treated is when you have a significant chlorine residue (0.2-0.5ppm). Learn more.
- Percentage purity of Chlorine: Most chlorine compounds used for water treatment come with a given percentage purity or what is called potency. For instance, calcium hypochlorites come with percentage purity of around 65 to 70 percent. Try to know the percentage purity of the chlorine compound you are using for your treatment.
